About Grace

Grace is a restaurant in New York City, dedicated to Grace O’Malley, Ireland’s 16th century “Pirate Queen,” whose audacity made her a folk hero.

Open for lunch and dinner daily, and brunch every weekend, Grace’s menu focuses on seafood-enhanced, elevated pub food, but all tastes are catered for. Grace is also an intimate neighborhood pub with a craft cocktail list and constantly-rotating draft beers. Anchored at 365 Third Avenue in Manhattan’s Kips Bay neighborhood, Grace is open for business 365 days a year.

Rory and Ryan

Chef Ryan Schmidtberger

A self-taught chef from western Kansas, Chef Ryan Schmidtberger leads the kitchen at Grace. He is responsible for creating a menu that honors the seafood traditions of its maritime namesake.

With 14 years of culinary experience, Chef Ryan’s skills were honed at top establishments such as Lure Fishbar, RM Fine Seafood, The River Café and Lever House. His culinary philosophy is to choose the best quality, sustainable ingredients and let them shine on their own without overpowering them.

Eschewing the latest culinary fads, he believes that classic, balanced, fresh and simply prepared dishes are often the most memorable.

Manager Rory Connellan

Rory began his career as an honors graduate in hospitality and business management from the University of Ulster. A long-time manager of pubs and bars from Dublin to San Franciso, Rory settled in New York City in 2002. You may remember him from previous gigs at legendary establishments like Swift Hibernian Lounge and Puck Fair.

At Grace, cocktails, craft beer, raw bar, and the inventive kitchen come together to create both a neighborhood haunt and a late-night destination.
